PORTUGAL, the Alfa Pendular
DIRECTED by : Jean-Baptiste ERRECA
From Brago to Faro, aboard the emblematic Alfa Pendular, Emmanuelle Han offers us a varied and exciting crossing to the heart of the Portuguese soul.
Our first stop: the tiny village of Aguda where fishermen in a research center labor for the protection of the ocean floor and actively work to safeguard a village that had lost its raison d’être.
Emma’s journey then takes her to Fatima, an important pilgrimage site for Catholics the world over. By coincidence, it’s October 13th: a symbolic date for the pilgrims. An opportunity to meet men and women of unshakable faith.
Our final encounter is with Tiago Pereira who makes videos that capture ancestral Portuguese music. He goes from town to town recording the old-timers. He then mixes the sound and images to create electronic music performances. A way of preserving the past and nourishing the future.
A gentle voyage by land and by sea, with an undercurrent of 'saudade'.
